Texas Officers Chase and Shoot Armed Felon

Brownsville, Texas — On May 13, 2025, just after 10 a.m., a Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop on 25-year-old Alberto Pintor Jr., of Brownsville, at Linda Street and Willow Street. However, Pintor refused to pull over and fled from the scene in a blue Ford Explorer, leading officers on a chase that spanned several neighborhoods and forced multiple nearby schools into lockdown. While fleeing, Pintor fired at the Texas DPS Trooper's vehicle and crashed into another vehicle. After abandoning his vehicle in an alley near Southmost Road, Pintor vanished into a residential area, prompting a sweeping search by DPS, Brownsville Police, and U.S. Border Patrol. Bodycam video shows agents sprinting through yards and vaulting fences in pursuit, weapons drawn as they closed in on the armed suspect.

The tense standoff came to a head behind a home on East 23rd Street, where Pintor, still holding a handgun, ignored repeated commands to surrender and attempted to enter the residence. Officers fired, striking him in the arm and pelvic area before taking him into custody. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital. A loaded pistol was recovered at the scene. Pintor now faces a series of felony charges, including Two (2) counts of Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant (1st Degree Felony), Evading Arrest with Motor Vehicle (3rd Degree Felony), Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon (3rd Degree Felony). Pintor's bond was set at $640,000. While no officers were injured, the incident remains under investigation by the Texas Rangers and local authorities.
