Connecticut State Trooper Ends High Speed Chase With PIT Maneuver

Norwich, Connecticut — On November 24, 2025, shortly before noon, Connecticut State Trooper Wilfred Blanchette observed a silver 2006 Honda Accord on Route 2A in Montville speeding and driven by Jesus Santiago of Manchester, CT, and which was also occupied by Tyloine Reddick of an unknown address. The license plates on the Accord did not belong on that vehicle but in fact were assigned to a black BMW. According to his incident report, Trooper W. Blanchette also believed that the operator of the vehicle may have been intoxicated. Despite activating his police lights and sirens, the operator of the Accord failed to stop and instead proceeded onto Interstate 395 northbound. The Accord continued north until it exited I-395 at Exit 13B and entered Route 2 westbound. During the pursuit, the Accord and the cruiser driven by Trooper W. Blanchette reached speeds as high as 120 mph. On Route 2, another state trooper deployed stop sticks, which were successful in deflating one of the tires of the Accord, but the pursuit continued at somewhat lesser speeds.

Trooper W. Blanchette sought authorization to perform an intentional collision with the Accord to end the pursuit. Permission was granted by Sergeant Gordon L. Leslie of the Connecticut State Police. Trooper W. Blanchette then intentionally collided with the rear quarter panel of the Accord at a speed in excess of 75 mph, but the collision was unsuccessful in stopping the vehicle. Trooper W. Blanchette next performed another intentional collision, which caused the operator of the Accord to lose control of his car and crash into the center-median guardrail of Route 2 and come to a complete stop. Trooper Noah Blanchette was traveling behind Trooper Wilfred Blanchette during the pursuit and collision. Other responding troopers then attempted to remove the two occupants of the Accord from the vehicle. Santiago complied with officer demands to put his hands in the air, and he was placed under arrest without further incident. Reddick was taken into custody after a brief struggle during which a K-9 officer bit Reddick in the left leg. Both Santiago and Reddick refused medical attention at the scene and were charged with various motor vehicle and narcotics offenses.
