Edmond, Oklahoma — On Friday, January 9, 2026, Edmond Police Officers made contact with 55-year-old Azita Afaghpour near the intersection of Santa Fe Avenue and Edmond Road after observing her soliciting in the area. During the interaction, investigators say the woman became aggressive and lashed out at an officer and used a fingernail file, prompting officers to use a Taser to subdue her. She was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation before being booked on assault complaints. Police have not disclosed whether the officer was injured, and the case is still under review.
