Shirtless Suspect Steals Gun From Female Cop

Fountain Valley, California — On January 24, 2025, at around 11 a.m., in the area of San Mateo Street and El Corazon Avenue, the Fountain Valley Police Department Dispatch Center received a call from a concerned community member. The caller indicated, a male tried to open the car door of a vehicle that was occupied by a female, as she was leaving a middle school. The caller noted the woman appeared fearful as the male tried to open the car door. The caller described the male as white or Hispanic, with no shirt and jeans. The caller believed the male was disturbed and that it appeared there was something wrong with him. Based on the information provided, the dispatcher entered a suspicious subject call and a few minutes later officers were dispatched.

The officer responded to the area and located a male, later identified as 26-year-old Osean McClintock, who matched the description provided by the caller. The officer contacted McClintock near the intersection of Brookhurst Street and Slater Avenue and asked him to be seated so he could further investigate what occurred. McClintock said he did not have to be seated and ran away from the officer. The officer then initiated a foot pursuit and chased McClintock through several parking lots. McClintock gained distance on the officer and the officer discontinued the foot pursuit. He then broadcast on police radio to let McClintock go, if he continued to run. In response an additional officer broadcast McClintock was in front of her police vehicle.

A short time after that radio transmission, the officer who chased McClintock heard his partner screaming, so he sprinted to her location. The footage from the female officer shows McClintock approaching the officer while she was seated in her car. McClintock then grabbed the officer's gun and the two struggled over the weapon, until McClintock forcibly pulled the gun out of the officer's hand. When the male officer arrived, McClintock was in possession of a handgun that he believed belonged to his partner. The officer commanded McClintock to put the gun down. However he refused to follow any and all orders he was given. Instead of following the instructions, McClintock walked away from the officer and entered the driver's seat of the patrol vehicle, belonging to his partner. He then closed the patrol vehicle's door. At that time an officer involved shooting occurred.

Immediately after the officer involved shooting, a request was made for Fountain Valley Fire Department Paramedics to respond. Once it was safe, officers approached McClintock, removed him from the police vehicle and began providing medical aid, including providing chest compressions and rescue breathing. A short time later Fountain Valley Fire Department Paramedics arrived and assumed care. McClintock was pronounced deceased.
