During a Senate hearing on Wednesday, Republican Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina asked Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent about a combative conversation he had last year with Bill Pulte, who currently runs the Federal Housing Finance Agency and who was named by President Donald Trump earlier this week as acting director of national intelligence. Bessent accused Pulte of talking negatively about him to Trump in private, according to sources.
