Nigeria evacuates citizens from South Africa after xenophobic attacks

Nigeria is facilitating the repatriation of hundreds of its citizens from South Africa following a wave of xenophobic attacks targeting foreign nationals. More than a thousand Nigerians have registered to return home amid mounting fears for their safety. Returnees describe losing livelihoods, property and loved ones to violence. Abuja has issued stern warnings to Pretoria, though the Nigerian government says it remains committed to a diplomatic response for now.
