UK’s hottest June: Red alerts, sleepless nights and a continent on the boil

A red weather warning for extreme heat has been extended into Friday for London and parts of the UK.
Southwest England hit 36.4 degrees Celsius on Thursday, a record for June, and breaking the previous record that was set just one day earlier.
Meanwhile, hundreds of schools have closed, and rail authorities have also advised against non-essential travel.
