Iranian media says several vessels, including oil tankers, have begun crossing the Strait of Hormuz following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran.

The reports are being seen in Tehran as a possible goodwill gesture ahead of Friday's in-person signing ceremony in Geneva.

However, US officials are warning that a full reopening of the strategic waterway could still take weeks, citing demining operations and ongoing security concerns.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most important energy corridors, and any disruption there has major implications for global oil markets.

At the same time, differences remain over sanctions relief and the release of Iran's frozen assets. Tehran views these issues as central to the agreement, while Washington says any easing of sanctions will depend on Iran's compliance during future negotiations.

The deal has lowered tensions, but major questions remain over implementation and the future of US-Iran relations.
