Mike McCabe, the COO and CEO of the Esports Federation, has said the "regional situation" left the organisers of this year's Esports World Cup no choice but to move from Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, to Paris.

Saudi Arabia's location in the Middle East means it has been hit Iranian missiles on a number of occasions since the US-Israeli war with Iran began earlier this year.

Other sporting events, such as the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix have also been axed this year.
