President Donald Trump confirmed Thursday that he still plans to install top housing official Bill Pulte as the acting director of national intelligence, despite bipartisan pushback over the appointment. Trump’s remarks came shortly after he announced he had picked Jay Clayton to be the permanent director of national intelligence, amid pressure from congressional Republicans to quickly make a formal nomination.
