Lebanon Divided Over Ceasefire With Israel as Political Tensions Rise

A ceasefire agreement linked to Israel has triggered intense political debate inside Lebanon, exposing deep divisions within the country’s leadership and political institutions.

While life in Beirut continues with a sense of normality, the situation in southern Lebanon remains tense as Israeli strikes continue and displacement grows.

Lebanese officials have voiced sharply different positions on the conflict, with the president and prime minister criticising external interference, while other political figures argue the ceasefire terms are unfair and incomplete.

Hezbollah has strongly rejected the proposed arrangement, calling it a surrender agreement that fails to ensure Israeli withdrawal or address key conflict issues.
