The European Commission has announced a fresh round of sanctions against Russia, focusing on tightening restrictions on oil trading as part of ongoing efforts to reduce Moscow’s energy revenues linked to the war in Ukraine. Since 2022, the EU has significantly reduced its reliance on Russian energy, while increasing imports of liquefied natural gas from alternative suppliers, including the United States.
