Work and Pensions Secretary Pat McFadden has defended his party's decision to increase taxes and regulation for employers.

Rachel Reeves put up the cost of National Insurance contributions for employers at her first budget after Labour's return to power, but this measure has been criticised by industry and the likes of the Milburn review for making hiring harder.
