Israel’s war on Gaza destroys vital therapy centres for disabled children

Children with autism and Down syndrome in Gaza have lost not only their homes but the specialised rehabilitation centres they depended on for therapy and daily routines. For six-year-old Hikmat Adwan, who has Down syndrome, the war erased two years of progress. Ten-year-old Yamen Abu Al-Khair is among many autistic children now receiving care in overcrowded makeshift tents. Teachers and families are attempting to continue occupational, speech and special education therapy in a single shared space, with severely limited resources.

Al Jazeera's Ibrahim al-Khalili reports from Khan Younis, Gaza.
