Starmer announces social media ban on all teenagers under 16

Under-16s will be banned from all the major social media apps, the prime minister has announced.

It follows a similar move by Australia in December last year.

Ministers say leaving parents to tackle this issue alone was not working. But critics say teenagers will easily find their way around the ban, and into less regulated spaces where there is no help if things go wrong.
